Garage  fire - Deer Run Lane
August 1, 2007
Fire tore through a garage on Wednesday afternoon, around 16:40 hours. Wayne County Communications sent the 4305 box assignment to the blaze on Deer Run Lane.

First arriving 43 Engine drropped  5" up driveway to the garage  and  wagon piped the structure to get a knock, then quickly switched to a 2 1/2" handline while the water supply was being established.

Chief 43A assumed  command having  Company 41 establish a fill site for tankers from a stream on Route 170 while Mini-pumper 94 handled the dump site duties.  Command  was transferred to Chief 43 upon his arrival. Chief 12 was assigned water supply duties.  Fire Marshal  E. Obelenus assumed the safety officer role.  Safety and Training Chief J. Obelenus coordinated the attack group.

With high temperatures, firefighters felt the summer's heat as they overhaul the remains of the structure and the vehicles inside. Three individuals (civilians) were burned as they tried to control the quickly spreading fire before the fire department's arrival. They were treated by EMS on the scene declining transportation of a hospital.Crews worked for about 90 minutes before returning to service. The detached structure, approximately 24 x 28, was totally destroyed. A PSP Fire Marshal will determine the fire's cause.
