House fire - Clinton Twp,   Route 296   September 20, 2004
On Friday, September 20th, Wayne County Communications Center dispatched companies to a reported structure fire on Route 296 at 06:30 hours, one mile south of Route 247 in Clinton Township. On the assignment were Station 43 (Browndale), 75 (Waymart), 42 (Vandling), 41 (Forest City), and 28 (Mt. Pleasant).

Engine 43, first due, arrived on scene reporting smoke showing for a two story wood frame dwelling. The engine crew stretched a 1 3/4" line to the rear of the structure. Second arriving Engine 75 positioned on side one, while Tanker 75, readied to establish a supplemental water supply.

Engine  43's officer reported that the fire was knocked down on the first floor and would be checking for extension. Company 41 checked extension on the second floor worked with company 75 and 42 on ventilation. All companies were returned to service  by 7:30 hours.

The structure, which is unoccupied but under renovation, suffered moderate damage. The fire is under investigation by the PA State Police. Chief 43 (Obelenus) was the incident commander.

One firefighter, Trevor Smith, from Station 43 was injured at the incident when his was hit by a hose coupling. He was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital by Forest City EMS, treated and released.
